Improvement project of E18 Turku Ring Road proceeds to second phase
The improvement project of the Turku Ring Road between Kausela and Kirismäki is proceeding to the second phase of construction. In the second phase the work will focus on the Kausela–Pukkila stretch and on Highway 10 between the Ring Road and Kaarinantie road. The work will start in summer 2020 and the project will be fully completed by the end of 2023.
The biggest items of the second phase are the repair and construction of bridges across the River Aura, improvement of the graded intersection in Kausela, and repairs of Highway 10 between the Ring Road and Kaarinantie road. The Ring Road will be widened to have four lanes between Kausela and Pukkila.
An allocation of 59 million euros was granted for the second phase of the project in the Government’s supplementary budget for 2019. Thanks to the allocation granted, the project can be finished in one go, and the graded intersection in Kirismäki to be built in the first phase can be implemented as planned.
The construction work for the first phase of the project commenced between Kausela and Kirismäki in March 2019 and will be completed in 2021.
The key items of the second phase of construction are:
- Widening of the Kausela–Pukkila stretch to four lanes
- Improvement of the graded intersection in Kausela
- Repair and construction of bridges across the River Aura
- Repairs of Highway 10 between the Ring Road and Kaarinantie road
