Turku to host the Baltic Ports Conference in September
The Port of Turku will serve as host of the Baltic Ports Conference 2026 when the international event for experts in the port and maritime transport sector is held in Turku on 2–4 September 2026.
The Baltic Ports Conference is an annual conference organised by the Baltic Ports Organization (BPO) that brings together the members of the organisation as well as other actors and stakeholders from the Baltic Sea region. The event will address key and topical themes related to port operations and business and will provide a forum for networking and the exchange of information and experiences. Turku hosted the conference previously in 2012.
The Baltic Ports Organization is a regional alliance of more than 50 major ports around the Baltic Sea that aims to improve the efficiency of maritime transport in the Baltic Sea. The cooperation helps ports to share their expertise, develop common operating models and promote the adoption of technological solutions in areas such as automation, digitalisation and the utilisation of logistics data. The mission of the Organization is to strengthen the economic, social and environmental sustainability of maritime transport across the entire region.

The Baltic Ports Conference 2– 4 September 2026
- Organised jointly by the Baltic Ports Organization and the Port of Turku in Turku, the oldest city in Finland and a major logistics hub for the Baltic Sea region.
- The first day of the conference, on Thursday, 3 September, will focus on changes in the operating environment of the Baltic Sea ports and the challenges of the green transition.
- The second day, on Friday, 4 September, will turn the lens on ports of the future. The themes to be discussed will include clean fuels, carbon flow management, the possibilities offered by renewable energy and the digitalisation of port operations.
- The Port of Turku is currently making significant investments in a new, modern passenger terminal set to open in 2027; more about this development will also be shared at the conference.
