The Port’s Traditional Calendar Celebration Transformed Sigyn Hall into a Cruise Paradise
In mid-November, we had the opportunity to set everyday life aside for a moment and gather together with representatives of our customers and partners for a joyful evening. The magnificent Sigyn Hall, adorned with decorations, turned into the perfect setting for a themed cruise in the spirit of the 1980s hit TV series Love Boat.
In line with the theme, the evening offered color and entertainment, maritime flavors, and great music. The only thing missing was a gentle breeze from more exotic latitudes.
Entertainment was provided by top professionals in their fields. The reigning Finnish samba champion, the Turku-based samba school Samba Carioca, lit up the Sigyn stage with incredible bursts of color, while hot Brazilian rhythms warmed the audience against November’s grayness. Among the guests, talented saxophonist and DJ Kristian Lakari delighted throughout the evening.
The celebration didn’t lack excitement either—rally route championships were contested on driving simulators late into the night. The roulette table also saw tense moments as stacks of plastic chips grew high, spurred on by the dealer’s humor-laced tips.
Turku Port Ltd’s calendar celebration, colored by diverse themes, has been organized since the 1980s. Originally, the reason and purpose were to celebrate the arrival of the next year’s calendar from the Port’s own print shop. Even today, the printed annual calendar with its information packages finds eager takers among invited guests and those dropping by for meetings in office spaces.
