It’s easy to come to Turku by road as well
Originating in Salo, HJN Logistics Finland is one of the transport companies that transports steel and other metals by road to and from the Port of Turku.
“Turku has excellent location. It’s a common practice that our trucks deliver, for example, paper to Turku or some other port in the region. On the way back we load the truck with steel in the port of Turku and deliver it directly to the customer’s doorstep. The vehicles drive with as full loads as possible in both directions, which is of course sensible from the environmental point of view as well”, says Managing Director Arto Nurminen.
The import customers of HJN Logistics are most commonly factories or steel wholesalers.
“Most of our transports take place on the Turku–Hämeenlinna–Helsinki route, but sometimes we drive further. The trucks carry steel plates as well as, for example, long railway tracks.”
The vehicle stock of HJN Logistics includes among other things an HCT (High Capacity Transport) unit with a 27 metres long platform as well as regular 25-metre trailers and 13.6-metre semi-trailers. The capacity of the trucks ranges from 30 to 50 tonnes.
Mr Nurminen also commends the fast and flexible services in the port of Turku.
“The best port in Finland in that sense. Everything works fine. There are no traffic jams on the roads leading to the port. And it’s useful that there is, for example, warehouse space available in Turku when the steel coils need to be stored sheltered from the weather”, he sums up.
